More poetry corner: A quest

Into the wood she goes Trying desperately to find her brother There will be perils along the way At least that is what she was told by her lover She suspects that he was taken in the night By a fearsome witch She believes he was only taken Because he was rich “Why must he be so naive” She groaned aloud But little did she know Someone heard this sound A goblin deep in woods Took this little tater And stored it away In case he needed it later She walked for days and nights Stopping only to eat And on the third day She realized her quest would be incomplete She had nothing to fight with No sword, nor axe, nor bow All she had with her was some water and money The latter of it was used long ago As she wondered how she would save her brother She stumbled upon a monastery Inside lived a wise old sage Who had cheeks as red as a cherry When she asked him for help He refused passionately Saying, “I will not help your brother For he h...

Poetry corner: My Friend

When you were here life was nice. When we were young and Running to and fro within the edelweiss. Finding new things everyday. Never wanting not to play. Everyone thought I was an odd child, Hanging out with you. But when you weren't there, I was surely blue. When I was happy, you added to my feelings. When I was anxious, you calmed me. When I hated the world you were there Waiting under the willow tree. When I started school you hung off the flagpole Waiting for me to come home You even learned the national anthem You said it was like a honeycomb When I was doing homework You ate all my snacks I asked you please to stop But you just said “friend tax!” On the weekend It was so fun Making mud pies And running under the sun When I started to grow And get more mood swings You were there, calming me And helping me grow wings. When I got a boyfriend You became our third wheel When we started to kiss You began to squeal   ...

Questions: Poetry corner

Why am I in this world? Why are you? Why are our souls interlinked, and not just plain two? Why did your parents come here, to these rocky shores? Why did they decide to stay here for more? Why did our paths cross, that odd day? Why were you there when I went out to play? Why were you there when I was sad and alone? Or play with me at recess with balls and sticks and stones? Why were you there when we grew older? And you gave me the cold shoulder. Why did you come of age, and leave me on these rocky shores? And leave me to date these boys, who were all total bores. Why did you come back, with children and a wife, Why did you believe I didn’t take it all in strife? Why did you expect me to love you again, even through my pain? I went about without you, for more time than before, And every day that passed, hurt me even more. Why did you move away again, claiming it was “work?” I knew you just wanted to get away from me, you arrogant jerk. Why did I ...

Dream of Death- Short story work

"Tessa?" suddenly Mia felt a cold chill down her spine, as she stared at her best friend. Tessa turned around with a smile that matched the idyllic countryside behind her and laughed joyfully, her long, red, curly hair flowing in the breeze. Not knowing Tess to be gregarious, Mia inched closer, studying her friend’s new behavior. “Come on!” Tessa called, before jumping off the ledge. Mia studied the ledge, and jumped down the 40 foot cliff. She miraculously didn’t die, and Tess looked confused, but went on with her cheerful demeanor when Mia came over. “Great job!” Tessa crowed, looking giddy with excitement. “Now we swim!” She called over her shoulder, running into the lake. When Mia started to swim, hands clamped on her back holding her under the frigid water. Mia, figuring this was a game turned around and quickly held tess’s hands behind her back. As she gulped in air, she laughed and laughed, but the countryside was slowly melting around them. Mia woke u...
